I’m smiling because you’re my sister, I’m laughing because there is nothing you can do about it!
The last time Polly and I took a road trip across the United States was in the early to mid-1950’s, I was somewhere around 10 and Polly around 6. Our parents loaded us up in a Pontiac station wagon and we headed west. In our collective memories are the window air conditioner they rented while driving across the desert, the scolding we got for reading comic book while riding through the Grand Canyon (no video games back then), Knott’s Berry Farm (where the photos below were made, the Will Rogers Museum in Oklahoma, and a visit to the Roy Rogers home. 
So here we are a few(?) years later heading out again. This time there are no comic books, just and iPad and a computer. With the help of a GPS and a plain old paper map our trip will take us along Route 66 to Albuquerque and points beyond. Keep an eye on this blog to find out where we are. And, you can leave us a note from time to time. Metter will be in our rear view mirror tomorrow as we head toward a campground in the Florida panhandle.

What kind of campgrounds are you stopping at? Visited a few on way to Albuquerque, El Paso, Tucson, and Quartzsite,AZ but I was in motorhome. Have fun, be careful. Leon

I love the first “chapter” and pictures of your journey. Can’t wait to see Chapter 2. My memories of family trips are the imaginary line in the back seat that my brother Ricky and I were forbidden to cross.
