I’m smiling because you’re my sister, I’m laughing because there is nothing you can do about it!
The last time Polly and I took a road trip across the United States was in the early to mid-1950’s, I was somewhere around 10 and Polly around 6. Our parents loaded us up in a Pontiac station wagon and we headed west. In our collective memories are the window air conditioner they rented while driving across the desert, the scolding we got for reading comic book while riding through the Grand Canyon (no video games back then), Knott’s Berry Farm (where the photos below were made, the Will Rogers Museum in Oklahoma, and a visit to the Roy Rogers home.
So here we are a few(?) years later heading out again. This time there are no comic books, just and iPad and a computer. With the help of a GPS and a plain old paper map our trip will take us along Route 66 to Albuquerque and points beyond. Keep an eye on this blog to find out where we are. And, you can leave us a note from time to time. Metter will be in our rear view mirror tomorrow as we head toward a campground in the Florida panhandle.
I hope you two sisters have a wonderful time and are singing & listening to the tune Route 66
Along the way…..Safe Travels…Blitch Ann
Hope you gals have a great time and get to reconnect as ‘sisters’. Look forward to your posts!
Nancy, I always love your travel journals and look forward to this one, too.
I hope y’all have fun! I’ll be reading as you go along. When y’all get back to Metter give me a call and we can meet up so I can hear all about it! (I miss my BRAG family)
Hey your knocking things off MY bucket list. Take care and have a great trip.
What kind of campgrounds are you stopping at? Visited a few on way to Albuquerque, El Paso, Tucson, and Quartzsite,AZ but I was in motorhome. Have fun, be careful. Leon
Have fun girls but stay out of trouble! Will think of you everyday & will keep up with your blog. Alan & I leave for Italy & the Greek Isles Tuesday. We won’t have a blog but will post news all along.
Have a great time but don’t get into trouble! I will think about you each day & will keep up with your blog. Alan & I leave for Italy & the Greek Isles on Tuesday but will not have a blog. We will send notes & pics often. Gay
I’ll enjoy hearing about your journey, What a great experience! Enjoy!
Soak in the beauty that is our country. It is a wonderful place to be. Safe journey and keep the reports coming.
I love the first “chapter” and pictures of your journey. Can’t wait to see Chapter 2. My memories of family trips are the imaginary line in the back seat that my brother Ricky and I were forbidden to cross.
OMG….you have a TENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Loved the pony pictures! Do THAT again!!!!!!!!!!
